A new mayor for London (on the right obviously)

After eight years of working for a better London dear old Ken (Livingston) has finally left the building. Having overseen improvements in transport, (although some would say the Bendy Bus was a ride too far), helping to bring the 2012 Olympics to a depraved area of east London and much more he'll be remembered for Ken has handed over to Boris (Johnson).

Boris has begun with a wise move, banning alcohol on public transport. Unfortunately nobody told him people will still travel on the buses and tubes under the influence and so trouble is just as likely from some drunken numpty. I'm all for banning alcohol on public transport, you haven't been allowed to smoke since after the Kings Cross fire of 1987, so why be allowed to get pissed on the Central Line? Nice one Boris, but if you're intending to stop trouble on the tube you'll need to do more than stopping some merry tourist taking their bottle of lager on the last tube.

One other admirable initiative is the scrapping of the London Authority's propaganda news-sheet, the Londoner and with the money saved planting of trees in London's streets. Again, nice one Boris. I strongly object to my own local council Tower Hamlets delivering to my door every Monday their own propaganda newspaper East End Life. According to the councils own newspaper life is sweet in Tower Hamlets. Yeah right. We have a self publicist for an MP and the local vicar is getting bashed around the head by some young local disenchanted youths. We're all carrying on with the Blitz Spirit though.
